UH's Case Keenum Named to Maxwell Award Watch List

casecover.jpg
UH's Case Keenum, once a leading candidate for a Heisman Award, has been named for the watch list of the Maxwell Award, given annually to college football's best offensive player.

We profiled Keenum in the spring as he began a comeback from the injury that ended his Heisman-hopes season last year.

The Maxwell watch list consists of 66 players who figure to have a shot at the award, so at least someone out there thinks he has a chance to shine. Unlike unofficial Heisman watch lists, the Maxwell's is put together by those involved in the selection.

"Keenum will be on the radar for every offensive award as the signal caller closes in on the NCAA all-time records for total offense, passing yards and touchdowns thrown," UH said in announcing the news. "Keenum has been a mainstay on the NCAA lists for offense after leading the nation in total offense in both 2008 and 2009. He has won 22 games as the starting quarterback at UH and has a chance to become the all-time winningest quarterback in school history."

The watch list candidates have been chosen by the Maxwell Football Club's selection committee, evaluating past performance and future potential.

Nice post !!Keenum was awarded a sixth year of eligibility for 2011 by the NCAA due to injuries received in the Cougars game against UCLA last season.
