UH Among Best Colleges To Work At, Study Says

Study give the Coogs props

If you're working at the University of Houston, you should be happy. Not just because anyone who has a job in higher ed should be happy, but because you're employed at one of the best colleges to be working for, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

The paper published its annual survey and UH scored high among big colleges in the categories of diversity, collaborative governance, teaching environment and respect and appreciation.

"This recognition is very satisfying and affirms that the University of Houston is a quality workplace made up of Tier One faculty and staff," said UH President Renu Khator. "We appreciate all of our employees for everything they do - not just to make UH a great place for an education, but also a great place to work."

The paper's findings on UH:

Houston appreciates diversity. Renu Khator, the university's president and the system's chancellor, is the first Indian immigrant to head a university in the United States. Several multicultural-research centers have helped the institution recruit a faculty in which 60 percent of professors come from a racial or ethnic minority.

Other Texas schools making the list included TCU, Sam Houston, Baylor and the Lone Star College System.
