State Bar to Investigate City Attorney on Jolanda Jones's Complaint

According to the July 22 letter obtained by Hair Balls, "the Office of the Chief Disciplinary Counsel shall investigate the Complaint to determine whether there is Just Cause to believe that the lawyer has committed Professional Misconduct or suffers from a Disability [sic]."

Feldman will be "directed to file a response" to the Office upon receiving a copy of Jones's complaint, the letter states. He must also issue a copy to Jones.

Jones and Feldman have butted heads ever since the councilwoman became the target of an Office of Inspector General investigation into allegations that she misused city resources. Jones has not released a copy of the grievance filed with the Bar, but a spokeswoman told Hair Balls earlier this month that the complaint pertained to Feldman's conduct during the OIG investigation and subsequent panel review process.

Under a new disciplinary review process designed in part by Feldman, Mayor Annise Parker has been meeting with council members Sue Lovell and C.O. Bradford for the past month in order to determine whether the complaints against Jones should go before the full council. (If it gets to that point, the council would decide whether Jones should be censured, impeached or cleared of any wrongdoing.)

Because investigations are confidential, no other details were available.

Feldman previously stated he would not discuss matters related to the complaint.
