Killed while drinking a beer.
A man was shot to death behind a southeast side convenience store Monday night, and police say they are looking for a "person of interest" to talk to them about the case.

Two men bought beer at a convenience store in the 8300 block of Park Place Boulevard about 8:30 p.m. Monday and then went behind the building to drink it, police say. Witnesses heard gunshots, and the unidentified male was found dead. An armed man was seen jumping over a fence and escaping.

Police want to talk to a man named Tony Alvarez, who they say is not a suspect but may have information on the killing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact HPD homicide detectives at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

Update: The victim has now been identified as Luis Salinas-Segovia, 35, and a suspect has been named.
