Killed in a daylight robbery attempt.
A gas-station employee who was shot during an afternoon robbery attempt Friday died a day later at Ben Taub Hospital, Houston police say.

Syed Hussain, 28, worked in a Chevron station in the 5400 block of the East Freeway. About 4:40 p.m. Friday, he was escorting a co-worker with a bag of cash to his vehicle, parked by one of the gas pumps.

They were approached by what HPD says was "a black male in his late 20s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build and wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants." As the three men scuffled over the bag, the suspect's small handgun went off and hit Hussain in the chest.

The suspect ran off northward, without getting any of the cash.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
