Ron Paul Wants Feds' Hands Off Your Weed
It takes a big issue to get U.S. Reps Barney Frank and Lake Jackson's Ron Paul leading the fight together, but they have found one: Weed.

Paul and Frank and four other Democrats (only one of whom has a last name that's also a first name) are introducing legislation to get rid of the federal prohibition on marijuana.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em in Lake Jackson, we guess.
Paul has long been a critic of the bloated, wasteful "War on Drugs," so this latest bill can't be considered much of a surprise.
And like other efforts, it's doomed to fail. But it could help spur discussion on whether the federal government should get involved in the non-interstate traffic of pot in states where medical marijuana has been approved.
The Marijuana Policy Project calls the legislators supporting the bill "visionary and courageous."
They say on their Web site:
"The legislation would limit the federal government's role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling, allowing people to legally grow, use or sell marijuana in states where it is legal," according to the Marijuana Policy Project, which advocates for pot legalization. "The legislation is the first bill ever introduced in Congress to end federal marijuana prohibition."More than a dozen states allow the sale of medical marijuana, but the practice is not legal under federal law, leading to confusion and clashes between local and federal authorities.
The site offers pre-written e-mails to send to Congress in support of the legislation, in case for some reason you're feeling too unambitious or if there's a good Maury on.
