Ron Paul: Yes, People Are Still Laughing If You Think You Will Be The 2012 GOP Nominee

Lake Jackson's favorite congressman, Ron Paul, proudly announced to the nation yesterday that no one's laughing at him anymore when he says he could become the Republican nominee for president and maybe get in the White House.

"They mocked me for my foreign policy and they laughed at my monetary policy. No more. No more. The people are coming over here," Paul said on CNN's State of the Union.

Paul's analysis of the burgeoning rise of grassroots America calling for the gold standard, legalizing pot, killing the Patriot Act and immediately bringing all troops home from foreign wars -- starts at about the five-minute mark above.

Paul took a pass when he was asked to "size up" potential nominees like Sarah Palin: "I'm not much into sizing up anybody," he said.

If Paul is talking about winning straw polls at overlooked early state political functions, then possibly he's right on target with his ever-growing political strength. And certainly the ability to raise big amounts of cash via the internet has been a boon to him.

But if he thinks the country is going to elect him president, then yes, people are still laughing at him.

But that's why we love him.
