And they may just live in Houston.
The Atlantic's blog has crunched some numbers from a recent gay survey and census data, and it's found that when it comes to raising kids, Houston's same-sex couples are near the tops in the nation.

The Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown area had the seventh-highest percentage of same-sex couples currently raising kids under the age of 18, they found. The stats showed 27.2 percent of the area's same-sex couples were raising kids.

The number-one spot was a little surprising: San Antonio-New Braunfels, where nearly 34 percent of the couples were raising kids.

None of the other top cities on the Atlantic list were easily guessed, either: Jacksonville, Florida, Raleigh, North Carolina, Las Vegas, the area that includes Providence, Rhode Island and New Bedford, Massachusetts; Rochester, New York, and then Houston.

The Atlantic writes:

Approximately half of lesbians and gay men are members of same-sex couples, including an estimated 160,000 who are married, according to Gates' research. Nearly one in five same-sex couple households are raising children, compared to about 45 percent of heterosexual couple households, according to figures from the American Community Survey (ACS).

Of the list that had Houston seventh, they said, "The densest concentrations of such families are not necessarily in the places where you'd expect to find them. Especially surprising are the metros that don't make the cut -- like San Francisco and New York."

Maybe they have other things to do?

but, but, but... this negates what's most fun about hanging out with members of the GLBT community: You don't have to listen to them go into long boring discussions about how "little Chelsea made the honor role!" or "How do you get Tyler to eat his beets? Because Devon is so willful when it comes to vegetables."
