Comment of the Day: Saddest Beer Palate Ever

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We wrote about how a few local businesses are not serving Bud Light in response to Anheuser-Busch killing a bill in the Texas legislature that would have helped local breweries.

It brought back a painful memory to one beer lover.

Justin S. Davis wrote:

I work with a guy whose favorite beer in the whole wide world is Coors Light. (The rest of his palate isn't distinguished, either...he eats only burgers and pizza, and the only "ethnic" stuff he'll eat is Asian buffets and Italian.)

I even took him to a fancy brewpub once, and got the sampler, so he could try all the wondrous beers available. His response to the waiter, after sipping each one (and making a horrible face after every sip)?

"What do you have that tastes most like Coors Light?"

I have never seen a more contemptuous, disgusted look from a server; it was worse than the cliched sneer from a cartoon French waiter.

Let's not confuse brewpub sissy beer with the defeated legislation that was desinged to help smaller breweres like St. Arnold.

Brewpubs in Houston had their chance already and they all failed us.
