Alabama Illegal Immigration Law: Texas Tea Partiers Can Only Look On In Awe

• IGNORANCE at it's finest. Maybe we should think before we act. Anyone armed with a little information would understand that these immigrants are contributing more to our economy than those who collect welfare and social security because they know how to work the system and would rather leach than contribute. As long as, their employers are playing by the rules and pulling payroll taxes out of their paycheck then yes then are paying taxes and if not then who's really in the wrong here, hint: it's not the worker. Does anyone really think this is going to create jobs? Immigrants work the jobs they do because most Americans feel they are too good to work those positions or too lazy. My fellow Alabamians you will soon see the prices of your meals go up while the quality diminishes as well as, the other services once worked by the hard working immigrants. Because if you are able to find workers to fill the positions once held by the former they will require a higher wage and produce less. Has anyone thought about who is going to rebuild Tuscaloosa and the other tornado ravaged cities of this state. And when the economy does rebound, which will not be due to any legislation, such as, immigration reformation but rather due to the natural ebb and flow of the business cycle who will fill the positions that we so desire yet feel are to good to toil in? Now is the time for change but not out of ignorance. We need to ask more of out public representatives and if they cannot produce it's time to go, public office is not right but a privilege. Now is the time to remind those who have forgotten.

• The bad economy in Mexico is because of NAFTA. Corporations like Wal-mart and subsidized corn from the US caused tons of small farms and businesses to go out of business. Those are 2 examples. Mexico has got to get out of NAFTA and be more self-sufficient. The drug war is happening because Mexicans have nowhere to work but the drug trade. If you starve the drug cartels of workers because of a good economy, they'll collapse.

• What facts are you working with?  The ones you pulled out of thing air? We have worked in an industry with tons of illegals for 25 years.  Do they pay taxes?  Not likely.  Do we?  you bet as its 1099 income reported to the IRS and they come after us if we dont report it.  That means we pay the full 15.3 SS taxes plus medicare plus the income taxes.  Illegals got a pay raise!!!  if petrol goes up; we still get the same pay as illegals have flooded our delivery work. How do you figure they contribute more then they take?  Illegals and also legal immigrants according to the latest Census have more people by far on entitlement programs then native born including their US born kids. There are 27 million out of work or needing more hours right now.  We take in 1 million new legal immigrants a year including 250000 refugees.  We allow another 1 million to do H1B non ag visa work.  This is despite very few net new jobs in this country in the past decade so we have too many people as opposed to not enough.  That would include all catagories of work but especially low skilled.  We have college graduates who cant find work too. Since you live in NYC; a trip to the NY public library would be in order so you can fact check your info since you dont seem to know any!!! PS: In case you missed the tornadoes in AL; you can read the papers on those too, Its commendable that the Gov cares about his legal residents / citizens over illegal ones and the rest of the states can take a leaf from him. People also need to be earning more after they lost everything to get back on their feet. They cant work for slave wages like illegals do as they dont pay taxes, medical care, education, etc.

• Yes, racism from Alabama who could have thought that? Gov. Robert Bentley is a flat-out racist who hates poor people and especially immigrants. What Bentley does't understand is that immigrants, even those undocumented, contribute much more to our society than they take. Most immigrants are honest, hard-working family people who on arriving in the USA start working very quickly and take jobs that native-born citizens refuse to do. They contribute approximatly $15 billion each year just in payroll taxes. That doesn't include all the sales taxes and property taxes they also contribute. Doesn't Bentley get it? We don't need more restrictions on immigrants we need fewer restrictions. Undocumented immigrants help to support Social Security and Medicare. If we could get a few million more immigrants to come here they would help make up for the fact that so many baby-boomers are leaving the work force.
