Eirin Ann Hicks: Texas State Student Killed by One-Story Jump

• Nah, I ain't an idiot. I'm smart enough to where I've lived in the ghetto of Aldine for nearly 20 years and outsmarted people trying to attack or kidnap me, which has happened on numerous occasions. She's the dumb one. The world is a very dangerous place and if you don't protect yourself, you die.

• They interviewed a kid who saw the girl jump out the window on KVUE. He said they were indeed drunk and she jumped out of the window. Then he started cursing and they didn't censor it out. Tell me why a sober person would jump out of the window head first when it's a 12 foot jump and you can easily roll down a very steep slope. I've nearly fell on multiple occasions on this hill.

• Don't make assumptions. You'll make yourself look like an idiot when you don't know the full story.

• You are an IDIOT! A young precious person lost her life. Have some respect you piece of trash!

• And, it looks like someone else lost their spelling teacher.

• Stop with the crude comments. Someone lost there daughter and sister.

• The drop is 12 feet or more, and latest reports are that they don't think the girls jumped, but may have been knocked out of the window by the unidentified male who jumped out. Denigrating this wonderful young woman is disgusting and vile. Her family is devastated, and the moronic comments all over the internet will live on for her baby sister to read, which breaks my heart. I can't believe the smug comments and the hilarity over this horrible accident.

• Nah, it's not tragic. We don't have smilodons or other large predators to weed out the slow and dumb. Sororities and fraternities do what years of comfort has reversed to evolution. Being stupid SHOULD be fatal.

• Well, thanks. My kid is away at college and I had managed to talk myself out of worrying 24/7, but it took awhile. It's insane how fragile life can be.

• a mass comm. and comm. des. major sounds about right. college kids do dumb stuff. sometimes they get hurt. sometimes they dont. we used to burn couches in the backyard for the hell of it.

• Bath Salts. I betcha. And Texas State is so smart their acronym is TSU! D'oh!

• Texas State. We changed our name because everyone knew Southwest Texas State was a party school. We fooled no one but ourselves.

• This isn't a problem exclusive to Texas State, shit like this goes on everywhere. Most of these kids are away from their parents for the first time in their lives- and then you throw in the ability to drink or do drugs-shit. Most of these kids join a sorority or fraternity and their newfound freedoms and popularity outweigh rational decisions. Sucks this chick lost her life so young, and another followed her right out the window thus fucking her self up as well. Hell when I was in college I had a friend that as a freshman did one of those "semesters abroad" in Spain and it ended tragically. He and 4 other guys had been out partying and decided it was a good idea to jump in a BMW and mash the gas. They hit a pole, were knocked unconscious and died when the car burst into flames- he was 19.

• This is the least of the shit that goes on at Texas State. I'm going there right now for grad school, and drunken crap like this goes on all the time, even among grad students. I really don't understand how people go through their college career with nothing but drama in their lives. "I don't wanna grow up, I'm a middle-class kid..."
