Dynamo's Disappointing Tie Has Coach Happy?

​The Houston Dynamo finished their game Saturday night at Robertson Stadium the same way they started it -- by giving up a goal. The New York Red Bulls were able to sneak one in 39 seconds into the match. Then in the 90th minute, a corner kick spelled doomed for the Orange.

Luckily for the Dynamo, they used the rest of the 88 minutes to score their two goals, ending Saturday's game in a 2-2 draw. The result didn't sit well with the team, however. As Tally Hall put it, "it feels like a loss."

"We're disappointed in how things ended up," the Dynamo goalkeeper told Hair Balls. "It hurts as a keeper to give up a goal in the first minute and pretty much last minute; that's the time that I try to keep the focus on the guys as high as possible. It's unfortunate that that's when we gave up the goals."

Orange-hating nemesis Dane Richards -- who's given the Dynamo fits in the past -- sucker-punched the team in the opening minute. Red Bull forward Luck Rodgers passed the ball back from the top of the box, and Richards blasted one in from distance to make it 1-0.

The Dynamo got one back in the 12th minute from the penalty spot. Will Bruin made his run from the left side, and was tripped in the penalty box making a cut to the right. Brad Davis took the shot to his right and leveled the game back at 1-1.

In the 82nd minute, Davis swung in a corner kick that Geoff Cameron was able to connect. His shot was blocked, but Koke -- who was just subbed in seven minutes earlier -- was there for the put-back. The goal was Koke's first of his MLS career, and gave the Dynamo a 2-1 lead.

But in the 90th minute, the Red Bulls were able to tie on a corner kick of their own. Mehdi Ballouchy was New York's hero, with a clean header that sailed into goal to tie the game at 2-2.

After the game, head coach Dominic Kinnear was "a little bit sour after losing the lead so late." Even with that, he was still satisfied with the way his team's played over the past couple of weeks.

"I think we're playing really well right now, I really do. I'm not trying to make the sun shine when the clouds are dark, I'm being realistic. But all in all, I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing from this team. The effort's there, the determination is there, and I think the ability to play for each other is very high right now."

The Dynamo travel to Southern California to take on the LA Galaxy on Wednesday night, then come back to Houston to take on in-state rival FC Dallas next Saturday night.
