Comment of the Day: Rick Perry's Debate Guts

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We wrote about the growing rumbles that Governor Rick Perry might yet insert himself into the 2012 GOP Presidential primaries.

Several readers were licking their chops.

Among them was mb-veal, who wrote:

Without the guts to even debate Bill White, he'll be a disaster against anyone with half the brains of Obama.

Oama has yet to show that he has anything but a socialist agenda. Cain for President!

Well he beat Bill White by 13 points. Seems his strategy paid off. I'm sure the strategy would be different in a presidential run. One thing is for sure, Obama is dependent on a teleprompter to speak without rambling and bumbling; Perry is not.

I think the strategy was a wise man knows when not to argue with a fool

That's what you have? A teleprompter? Well, let's give you a round of applause. You have figured out what every president for decades has done, which is use a teleprompter. If that is what passes for hard hitting rhetoric, then its safe to say that Perry and his supporters are nothing more than a distraction on the national stage.

A cactus with an (R) next to its name could have won the 2010 Texas governor election.
