KBR's Selection As a "Top Employer For Women" Ignites Backlash
Houston's KBR has sent out a press release noting the company had been named one of the 50 top employers for women by Woman Engineer magazine.
Not everyone agress with the KBR pick.
"The readers of Woman Engineer magazine selected the top companies in the country for which they would most prefer to work or believe are progressive in hiring woman engineers," the company proclaimed.
Not everyone is happy.
KBR's long, spotty history with employees in Iraq being accused or convicted of sexual harassment and rape has left some observers amazed at the magazine's pick, and they're calling for people to write in.
One is blogger Ms. Sparky, who included a long list of KBR cases against women.
In a recent news release from KBR, it states they have made it onto the "Top 50 Employers" list for Woman Engineer Magazine with a ranking of #46. The lists published on WEM's site do not include KBR so I can't confirm KBR's claim. Assuming KBR is not trying to mislead their employees and investors and did in fact somehow magically make it onto this list, I must then ask "Who in the Hell is #47, #48, #49 & #50?" KBR is notorious for their crimes and abuses against women employees. (Click HERE to contact Women Engineer Magazine and insist KBR removed from the list)
It should be noted, of course, that the results came in a reader survey, not picked by the magazine's editors.
Still, if the outrage campaign gets going, things may get a little hot for the publication.
