M-I-C -- See you real soon....
Good news if you're the type of person who enjoys a Disney cruise, and may God have mercy on your tortured soul if you do: Galveston is one of the new ports of call.

Disney announced today that beginning in September 2012, a dozen seven-night cruises each year will depart from Galveston (not the Port of Houston's expensive and underused Bayport cruise terminal) and head across the Gulf.

Stops will be made at Grand Cayman, Costa Maya and Cozumel, the company said.

They can't keep themselves from adding:

Guests will enjoy three magical days at sea to explore all of the fun aboard the Disney Magic and three days in port to lounge on warm, golden beaches, to swim and snorkel in azure waters or to shop to their heart's content in exotic marketplaces.

It's a good catch for Galveston, especially post-Ike Galveston.

"The economic impact will be tremendous," said Leah Boyd of the Galveston Convention & Visitors Bureau. "Quality cruise lines attract tourists, which spend millions of dollars in our hotels, restaurants and shops. With Disney and four other new ships scheduled to sail from Galveston by the end of next year, the island's near future is looking very bright."
