We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We noted how a call for a Congressional investigation into who got retired space shuttles was not likely to be helpful, since the bottom line was that Houston put forth a piss-poor effort to get one.

One reader agreed and amplified.

MKW said:

Another thing to consider is that the shuttles were supposed to go where they'd be seen by the public. Houston has no tourist industry to speak of. The Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH - the home of one of the largest Air Force bases in the country, granted, but less than 10% the size of Houston - gets almost twice as many visitors per year as Space Center Houston. And Wayne Hale is right - the reason New York got the Enterprise is because they put more effort into trying to get a shuttle than anybody else. The Intrepid museum has been waging an energetic campaign for over a year. That's why they got it.
