Carl Lewis, State Senator From New Jersey? How Many Things Are Wrong With That?

Several key East Coast newspaper are reporting that UH legend Carl Lewis will announce soon -- maybe today -- that he plans to run as a Democrat for the Senate from New Jersey.

Wow.

Lewis now lives in Medford, NJ; he would be running as a longshot candidate in a solidly Republican area.

Just as a sidelight, it should be noted that the New Jersey Senate is not exactly studded with deep thinkers. We had a football coach once whose main philosophy consisted of calling everyone "pantywaists." He later went on to become a New Jersey state senator.
