Carlton Eberle was drunk and hit a pedestrian, HPD says
A man has been charged with DWI and causing an accident involving injury in relation to a car crash that killed a 53-year-old man on the far west side.

Carlton Jay Eberle, 25, was drunk and driving in the 1700 block of Highway 6 about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when he hit a man crossing the road, police say.

"Eberle then fled the scene on foot and was later taken into custody by HPD Westside Patrol Division officers in a nearby neighborhood," police say. "According to witnesses, Eberle, who was found to be intoxicated, was driving erratically prior to the accident."

The name of the victim was not released pending verification.
