Angel Cantu, charged with murder and on the run
A man tried to escape a beating at his house by jumping out the window, but instead was stabbed to death, Sunday morning, Houston police say.

Murder charges have been filed against Angel F. Cantu, 19, who is currently on the run. The name of the victim has not been released pending identification.

HPD responded to a stabbing call about 3 a.m. Sunday and found the victim dead in an apartment in the 6700 block of Fairway. They later arrested two minors who had stolen the victim's pickup, and the pair said they had been in the apartment with Cantu.

"Cantu and the victim began arguing about money the victim owed Cantu," HPD says. "Cantu began beating the victim, and at some point, the victim attempted to jump out of the apartment through a closed window. Cantu stopped the victim from fleeing and stabbed him several times with a knife, killing him."

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cantu is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
