Pomplamoose: More Than Just Annoying Hyundai Shills (?)

Much of the nation was introduced to Pomplamoose by a series of annoying television ads urging Americans to celebrate the birth of Jesus by buying a compact car.

As this week's feature, "The Pomplamoose Revolution," reveals, there may be more to the band than that.

Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn's collaboration is "a musical project that is half traditional band, half social media experiment and entirely an insurrection against how things are normally done in the music business."

Sure, their videos can cause cuteness overload, but their business plan is making people pay attention.

Never saw the ad - their version of Single Ladies from a year-or-so ago was what nailed it for me. I put them about the level of Molly Afton for artistic success.

they didn't exactly pioneer the career track of making music for advertising before actually becoming an established artist (that's the only reason i can see why i should know of them).

congrats for them, but i'd much rather read about bands that are actually doing interesting things in their field/industry rather than about career tracks for the lucky few.

Terrible commercials, annoying singing voice, twee indie bullshit sensibilities. Out of all the bands in the nation, why waste space devoted to these untalented hucksters?
