Metro's Epic Plan to Hand Out Valentine's Day Cards

C'mon, baby, I ain't nothing like that nasty ol' Metro you used to go with...

To prove it, TNM!!!! will be...handing out Valentine's Day cards to riders Monday.

From 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., Metro CEO George Greanias will be joined by the agency's bus driver of the year and "hundreds of other Metro volunteers" in passing out cards at bus stops, transit centers and trail platforms. We'll leave it up to you to decide if the word "volunteers" should be in quotes.

"Operation Thank You" will, according to the beleaguered mass-transit agency, concern itself with "driving home the message to nearly a quarter million faithful daily passengers at dozens of locations that the New METRO loves its riders."

We know that if we were getting off a bus to start the workday at five in the morning, nothing could make us feel better than amped-up, overeager "volunteers" (there, we did it) thrusting a cheap card at us and demanding that we acknowledge how much they love us.

On the other hand, if you happen to get Greanias as your greeter, you'll be able to let him know how you feel about the service, whether he's professing his love for you or not.
