Glenn Beck will be conspiratorially maudlin for you

On the night of March 25, Houston now has three choices. Do you go see Devo, the pioneering punk and New Wave group at Warehouse Live, or legendary folk offspring Arlo Guthrie at the House Of Blues, or spend an evening with powerhouse conservative talker Glenn Beck?

Decisions, decisions. Do you want to hear "Whip It," "The Motorcycle Song" or "Start Storing Food and Gold and the Obama Administration Are the New Nazi Scumlords"?

I don't know about you, but I have seen Alice's Restaurant, and if I play my cards right I could still see Devo after Beck. In fact, I would sacrifice seeing one of my favorite bands of all time to see the majesty and confusion of Glenn Beck. Just saying.

Beck will be in Houston on March 25 on his "Glenn Beck Live" tour, which features more stand-up style comedy from Beck rather than the fire and advertising brimstone you see and hear on the radio and his Fox News program. As his Web site, glennbeck.com, states:

Glenn has been called many things--Unconventional, Uncompromising, and occasionally, Unhinged. It's time we threw in Unserious, Unangry and Undeniably Funny! After a long cold winter, it's time to spring into action with big laughs, live on stage!

I can't Wait to See This Show!

As a longtime fan of Beck's -- okay, two years now -- I know his radio show by heart. From the moment I wake up in the morning, my mind is filled with contradictions and head-scratching from my first waking minutes in the shower to the point right when the AM 740 KTRH signal fades out in my car in between the buildings downtown.

I would like to think it's akin to a Catholic priest listening to Howard Stern, me tuning into Beck each day without fail. Not that I am a dyed-in-the-wool liberal by any means. I do get a hearty chuckle out of the hyperbole, and sometimes, in my strangest moments, I may nod in approval. The joke wore off long ago, and now I am still listening. I know all too well the adventures of Stu, Pat and Vermont Teddy Bears.

Tickets went on sale last Friday, with Gold VIP packages going for $500 a pop, and regular schlub general admissions tickets a cool $95.
