Comments of the Day: Dealing with Unhealed Wounds

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

Yesterday, on the 150th anniversary of Texas seceding from the Union, we offered up five reasons on why that was such a great idea. Among them was the fact we got rid of that crotchety old Sam Houston as governor.

That triggered an unlikely reaction, but luckily a reader had our back.

Geez, don't remind me of this shit. Oran Roberts ran an awful smear campaign that makes Beck/Palin look like amateurs, bringing down the honorable Sam Houston so that Roberts could become governor and get a whole bunch of Texans killed fighting in the wrong side of a dumb war.

And they named my kid's elementary school after this clown?

To which Kathy replied:

In Richard Connelly's defense, he could not have foreseen that he'd have a 150-year old still upset about the Houston/Roberts campaign reading the article...
