It's The Sugar Land Skeeters, Like It Or Not
Sugar Land's minor league baseball team has a name, and it's one of the three finalists that no one seemed that enthused about.
Talkin' baseball....
No, it's not the Lizard Kings. It's the Skeeters. Apparently already trademarked and unavailable were the Sugar Land DeLays, the Sugar Land DraculaCunts, the Sugar Land Traffic and the Sugar Land Shopping Malls.
"We are tenacious, we are synonymous with summer, we are a new species of fun - we are the Sugar Land Skeeters!" team president Matt O'Brien said in a ceremony this morning.
The team got 8,000 suggestions and 16,000 votes on proposed names.
He's angry!!
As we noted earlier, the team will have an impressive $30 million, 7,500-seat stadium when play begins in April 2012.
Be sure to bring some bug spray.
