Storeowner kills three robbers
A wild shootout as an East End jewelry store owner defended his property ended with three robbers dead Thursday aftertoon.

HPD identified two of the dead robbers as Onilton Bolanos Castilon, 38 and Nelson Wilfred Tambora-Ramiro, 21. The identity of the third is pending verification, and a fourth member of the group got away and is being sought by authorities.

The group attempted to rob a store in the 4500 block of Canal Street about 2 p.m. Thursday that was owned by Ramon Castillo, 52, and his wife Eva, 48. They tied up Eva, but when they attempted to do the same to Ramon.

"The other two suspects began shooting at Mr. Castillo, who returned fire," HOD reported. "Mr. Castillo then retrieved a shotgun he kept in the store and shot and killed the two remaining suspects."

Castillo was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable but serious condition. The wife was unharmed.

"A possible fourth suspect, the getaway driver, remains at large," HPD says. "He was last seen in a taupe or gold colored early 1990s, square body, four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan or Toyota."

Anyone with information on this case or the whereabouts of the fourth suspect is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
