Mario Elie, the popular former Houston Rocket who's married to KTRK news anchor Gina Gaston, got busted early this morning for suspicion of drunk driving, the Associated Press reports.

Elie, now an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings, was picked up in downtown Sacramento, such as it is, at 1:15 a.m. local time Thursday.

Cops cited the ol' "busted tail-light" as reason enough for pulling him over.

"The officer reported smelling alcohol in the car and said Elie showed signs of being intoxicated," the AP reports. Elie took a breathalyzer and exceeded the .08 limit, police said.

Elie was booked into jail and posted bail, so he's out now.

We're not up on the intricacies of California law, but we do know dozens of Houston DWI lawyers learning of last night's events no doubt yelled "NEVER take the breathalyzer!!!" to no one in particular after reading the reports.
