• Let me try to get this right. The 13 year old had her spend the night and she was sexually assaulted at that time? And after that she chose to go spend the night with her again three months later? Not that it would be right because of the age difference, but was it consensual? I am not understanding how one can be sexually assaulted and then willingly go spend the night with that person again. It seems like maybe it was consensual until the mother of the younger girl found out. I understand that the older party is responsible for statutory rape, regardless, but I do question the younger party's statements. Also, where was the overly concerned mother when her 13 year old had this individual spend the night with her? And where was she when her 13 year old spent the night with her for a second time?

• Now, I am in absolutely no way excusing this woman's actions. However, in this case it is clear from the court documents that the girl was already interested in girls before this woman targeted her. One item many people fail to recognize in cases of same-sex statutory rape is that the older men and women who target certain younger boys and girls target certain boys or girls they know are more likely to be open to their advances. A lesbian pedophile does not target girls who are 100% straight. They target girls who are either questioning their sexuality or have already recognized they are bisexual or lesbian. So, I am not saying, nor would I ever say, that the girl here should shoulder any of the blame for what happened. Absolutely not. She was targeted and victimized by an adult. Just don't make this out to be a case of a lesbian trying to recruit a straight girl. This was a case of, for lack of a better definition, lesbian statutory rape. By that I mean, while it is not certain the girl already or would eventually identify as a lesbian/bisexual, it is likely. So, her sexual preference should not be treated as a result of the rape. Rather, it should be left to the girl to determine that on her own, and the other aspects of her recovery be treated normally, without regard to the gender of her abuser, unless the girl brings up the issue herself. To try to force her to be straight again, and tell her, "You're only attracted to women because you were raped by a woman," could cause her much damage in the long-run.
