• Yup. Seriously. Understand this: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "JUST DRIVING." Automobiles are inherently highly dangerous, and operating one is far and away the most dangerous thing the average person will ever do in their lives. Doing so when you're unable to control the machine due to your own actions... yeah. If you're willing to shove that unreasonable risk on other people, you should be willing to accept that you should pay the same price.

• Did you know almost 2700 folks are killed by motor vehicle accidents as a result of DUI in Canada each year? That's almost as many as the poor souls who died in 911. That works out to about 8-9 people each day. Or one person every 3-4 hours are killed byDUI. Population of Canada is 35 million. The stats are only available up to 2007, as it takes a lot of time and resources to crunch the numbers. Why are people so cheap to pay for a cab, or get a friend to drive them home. The numbers you posted are not correct FFB. Check out your figures again, I'm sure it's more like around 30,000 folks.

• Avg. amount of deaths on Jan. 1st is 142. 40% are assumed alcohol related so that equals 57 possible alcohol related deaths nationwide every New Year. Congrats taxpayers. Millions spent so the roads are .000019% safer. Panic decision making at its finest.

• Seriously? Attempted capital murder? You honestly think someone whom gets behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated has the intent to murder someone, and thereby should be open to conviction and a sentencing of death just for driving? Well, mind as well do the same to texters, women whom put on make up, the elderly, and people that eat while driving, it's only "fair"...

• Wouldn't expect any less from the HP or a lawyer. Really classy guys.

• Depends entirely on whether you've lost someone you love to a drunk. Personally I have no objection at all to prosecuting drunk drivers for attempted capital murder.

• I'm sorry, but if you're driving drunk you should be convicted of it. Your dumbassery could hurt or kill someone else.

• So, are the police civil servants who are there to protect and serve, or are they part of an industry which feeds off supposedly drunk drivers, among others. MASSIVE changes are called for---where is the Tea Party for this invasiveness?
