Police in Edinburg say that in the wee hours of December 24, a Valley dad walked in on his 16-year-old son and Dulce Liliana Nava-Cardenas, the 35-year-old prostitute he had hired. The report alleges that Nava-Cardenas was naked, and that the teen had paid her $150 for unspecified sexual favors.

Nava-Cardenas later confessed to police that the boy had paid her for sex and that she had already allowed the boy to touch her breast when dad walked in.

Nava has been charged with both prostitution and indecency with a child. If convicted of the latter charge, she could face up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. She made her $1,500 bond and was released from Hidalgo County Jail early on Monday.

As for the boy who was so keen on putting the X back in Xmas, it was not disclosed whether he got his money back, nor where he got all that money to begin with. (Maybe this kid's parents should not have let him open his presents early.) Nor was it disclosed if this little caper would be the subject of his "How I Spent My Christmas Break" essay on returning to school next month.
