Deadly Thanksgiving, but no charges filed
A Thanksgiving get-together turned deadly on the west side and a Harris County grand jury will decide if the shooter acted in self-defense.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. Thanksgiving morning in the 12800 block of Westleigh.

The identity of the deceased, 34, is being withheld pending verification.

HPD says the deceased man had been visiting for Thanksgiving and became belligerent with the homeowner.

The homeowner, 39, got him outside and locked the door. The soon-to-be-dead guy (referred to by HPD as "the suspect") was outside yelling.

Let's let HPD take it from there:

The suspect then attempted to re-enter the residence and was told repeatedly by the homeowner to leave. The suspect then broke a front door window, reached inside and unlocked the door. The homeowner, fearing for his childrens' safety, retrieved his gun and continued to warn the suspect not to enter the home. The suspect ignored the warnings, forced open the front door and charged the homeowner, who fired his gun once, fatally striking the suspect.
