Texans-Jags Hail Mary (and 5 other plays) In TECMO BOWL Form! (W/ Video)

In 2010, by my calculations, there are really four legitimate ways for your legacy to be commemorated. They are as follows:

1. Bobblehead doll

2. Being spoofed on South Park

3. Being spoofed in West Coast porn (My character's name would be Stone Pendergasm, not that I've thought this through.)

4. Tecmo Bowl version of your career highlights

As best I can tell, the first three are still in play for me, but athletically I'll never do anything on a football field that will have video game dorks looking to relive it with graphics from 1990. And it's really too bad because as elementary school as those graphics now look, there's something simultaneously hilarious and captivating about seeing Gus Johnson describe the video game equivalent of stick figures executing memorable football plays.

That brings us to this remake of the "David Garrard to Glover Quin's spike to Mike Thomas" prayer that sent the Jags past the Texans 31-24 on Sunday....

If you haven't seen it yet, this video actually makes reliving this colonoscopy of a play somewhat tolerable. Actually, who am I kidding? It makes it awesome. Very awesome. Here you go....

Okay, I stand corrected, that actually was kind of painful to watch again. How about I go ahead and wash that bad taste out of your mouth. Here's Andre Johnson's touchdown to beat the Chiefs (also, conveniently enough, with Gus Johnson on the call)....

Now, if you're looking for a stark contrast that illustrates the clownish flavor of awesome that is Gus Johnson, check out the Tecmo version of the David Tyree helmet catch and Joe Buck's call which sounds like he was thumbing through an issue of Glamour and occasionally glancing at the field...

Making sure that pain is spread equally, how does this one taste Cowboy Fan? Tecmo version of Dwight Clark's "The Catch"....

Yes, that was Vin Scully's voice on the Dwight Clark catch! So in honor of Scully's greatness, here's a bonus RBI Baseball remake of the entire inning that contained Kirk Gibson's historic home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series....

And finally a double bonus and possibly the new fifth way to be immortalized -- via LEGOS! Here's about as realistic a facsimile of Clint Dempsey's goal against England in the 2010 World Cup as you could expect using small plastic figures whose joints move like they're all wearing invisible body casts. This is awesome....

Listen to Sean Pendergast on 1560 The Game from 3-7 p.m. weekdays on the "Sean & John Show" and follow him on Twitter at http://twitter.com/SeanCablinasian.
