State Rep Leo Berman: A "Birther" Bill And Oh, So Much More
Texas, we have our birther bill!!
Leo Berman: Probably not a big Jon Stewart fan
Thanks to Rep. Leo Berman of the Panhandle Tyler, the Texas legislature will take up a bill saying no one can be on the ballot in Texas for president (or vice-president! All bases covered!!) unless they present their "original birth certificate indicating that the person is a natural-born United States citizen."
Berman explained to the Lubbock Avalanche Journal the bill is needed "because we have a president whom the American people don't know whether he was born in Kenya or some other place."
Berman, who has called Barack Obama "God's punishment on us today," didn't stop there with his pre-filing of goofy bills for the upcoming session.
Other bills include
-- Establishing English as the official language of Texas
-- The "imposition of a fee for certain money transmissions sent to certain destinations outside the United States." Damn those Canadians sending money home to the Yukon!
-- Cutting off state funds for entities that don't enforce immigration laws to the degree he thinks they should
-- One "relating to the enforcement of immigration laws, to the investigation, prosecution, and punishment of certain criminal offenses concerning illegal immigration, and to certain employment and labor practices and requirements regarding immigration and immigrants; providing civil and criminal penalties."
-- "Prohibiting a person who is in the United States illegally from bringing a claim in a state court."
-- Issuing "temporary report[s] of alien birth" rather than birth certificates if a child is born to illegal aliens.
-- Oh, and he wants any guns or gun parts made and sold only in Texas to be exempt from federal regulations.
