Gary Kubiak loses something? Un-possible!
It's a week or so away from the 2010 Turkeys of the Year issue, where we honor what is best in Turkeydom for the past year. This will be our eighth edition of the awards, and as always competition is stiff. Building up to the grand announcement of the winners, we'll take a look at some folks who -- despite their best efforts -- came close but didn't make the cut.

Category: Sports Turkey of the Year
Close but no cigar: Texans coach Gary Kubiak
Why he could have won it: Being a Texans fan so far has been an exercise in futility, with most years ending with just enough hope to think a breakthrough was on hand. Never was that more true than this season; last year the Texans just missed a playoff spot. Surely 2010 would be different, right? Alas, fans forgot the Power of Kubiak.

Why he did not get named a Turkey: Let's just say he was about to win but found a way to blow it late. There was another candidate out there, and he was the Jacksonville Jaguars' Hail Mary pass to Kubiak's hopes.

We'd say there's always next year, but we're betting that may not be true in Kubiak's case.
