Aggies Again OK In-State Tuition For Illegals
The Texas A&M Student Senate refused last night to override the veto of a bill that would have barred in-state tuition to illegal aliens.

The Bryan-College Station Eagle reported that a vigorous, at times loud debate took place before the vote.
The impact of the ban would have been unclear -- it is only the student senate -- and the current state laws on residency don't even mention immigration status.
But the Aggie push got wide coverage on Fox News and other conservative outlets.
"It didn't seem fair that out-of-state Americans were struggling and having to pay $15,000 more while people here illegally were getting the tuition break," the leader of the effort, Justin Pulliam, said last night.
Proponents thought they had the two-thirds needed to override the veto, but the vote was 34-25.
"I was not elected to this position to negatively impact any Aggie who put me here," said student senator Brody Smith, who voted against the bill, according to the Eagle. "They took the same application process to get here that we did."
