A man was shot several times Friday night on the northeast side and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

The man, whose identity was not released, was shot about 9:50 p.m. Friday in the 5200 block of Market, near Wheatley High School.
HPD says it got a call of an assault in progress; when they arrived on the scene they found the victim's body lying in the street.
