Astros' New Scoreboard: Just How Huge Will It Be?

That tiny, tiny thing surrounded by a sea of pale blue is the old Astros scoreboard, the one deemed perfectly acceptable by most people at the ballpark.

The pale blue? That's the size of the new scoreboard.

The Astros' MLB.com writer, Alyson Footer, has posted some illustrations of just what is coming with the $12 million "improvement" project that will add more hugely distracting signage and video to the already ad-packed park.

Here's what the new hi-def TV screen will look like:

"The size of the new [scoreboard] appears to be just right -- large enough to make an impact, but not too big that it'll be a distraction," Footer writes.
