Nah, you're not invited
Mega-lawyer Mark Lanier each year throws an outrageous Christmas party, because there's nothing better to do with money than throw an opulent, look-at-me event that doesn't even serve liquor for all the dads who've had to drag their kids out to ride the rides.

The event also serves as an annual indicator of which once-prominent performer is willing to take a heap of cash to appear at some Texas lawyer's private party.

In the past, it's been Bon Jovi, Brooks & Dunn and Dolly Parton. This year, according to Texas Lawyer weekly: Sting.
"Sting brings great music, a great stage show and a great deal of popularity, which is what we always try to bring," Lanier told the publication. In terms of ostentatious lawyer parties featuring performers past their prime, we think Dallas got the best of it this year. Lisa Blue-Baron's bash features Sheryl Crowe, sure, but it also features Dukes of September, which is another name for Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan's Donald Fagen and Michael McDonald.

If that's like Fagen's old Rock & Soul Revue, it's a clear win for Dallas, even with the Crowe.
