Harris County Warns: Don't Wear Your McCain Shirt To The Polling Place

As controversy continues over aggressive poll-watching in minority areas, the Harris County Clerk's office has put out a bulletin outlining what is and isn't proper to do in voting locations.

Spokesman Hector DeLeon highlights areas of the election code and then expounds on them.

"'A person may not electioneer for or against any candidate, measure, or political party' inside the poll," he notes, and adds this:

That means if a person shows up at a poll wearing an Obama or McCain shirt they will not be allowed in the poll until they cover the shirt, turn it inside out or remove it. Although they may not be on the ballot, Obama is the leader of the Democratic Party and McCain is well known and associated with the Republican Party. So in essence, any voter wearing those shirts are walking billboards for each respective political party.

Got that, Harris County? NO McCain t-shirts.

The notification didn't mention anything about hovering over people as they try to cast their ballots, as we reported earlier. But hovering is definitely not allowed, it seems, if you are someone wearing an oh-so-rare John McCain t-shirt.

Although who could blame you for sporting it? He is, after all, "well-known and associated with the Republican Party."
