Dynamo Fight Revolution, Breast Cancer This Weekend
The Houston Dynamo have teamed up with Methodist Cancer Center to bring awareness for Breast Cancer. The Dynamo will have a special $20 ticket package for this Sunday's home match against the New England Revolution. The package will include a ticket, a commemorative pink t-shirt, and a field pass, where the teams hopes to make a giant "human" pink ribbon.
Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell, has been campaigning for Breast Cancer awareness for quite some time, and felt that the Dynamo had to do their part to bring awareness. "We always say the Dynamo are 'forever orange,' but [on Sunday] we'll make an exception and say that it can be pink."
"Hopefully, people come out and get involved, donate some money for Methodist Cancer Center to help us not only bring awareness, but to raise money to fight for a cure. Women are very important to all of us; whether they are our mothers, wives, girlfriends, daughters, or sisters."
The Dynamo's opponent, the Revs, are in a similar situation to the Dynamo. Both teams, perennial playoff teams, are out of the dance this year. For Boswell and Co, they're playing remainder of the season for pride.
"I know other teams are thrilled to get their first taste of this playoff experience, but we aren't worried about the league or anyone else. We're playing for our jobs and trying to show our coach that we belong on the team next year."
Come early for Beer, hot dog eating contest
The Dynamo will also have a special tailgate before the match to celebrate the world's largest beer festival, Oktoberfest. Entry into the tailgate will run you $20, which includes a gameday ticket, German-inspired entertainment, and entry in Holmes Smokehouse's inaugural hot dog eating contest. The party starts at 4:30 pm.
