Adrian Garcia wins in court
In May we told you about a lawsuit against Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia which claimed he was blocking or dragging out the process or releasing public information.

That was notable because Garcia has often spoken about his wish to have the fortress-like mentality of the HCSO transformed into one of openness.

Score one for Garcia: He's been granted a summary judgment in the suit.

The suit is by two former deputies suing over their dismissals; the dispute concerns various paperwork and records of the office.

The plaintiffs filed asking for a writ of mandamus forcing Garcia to produce certain evidence; the judge in the case granted a motion for summary judgment dismissing the case August 31.
