Hair Balls regretfully posted this afternoon misleading information about a Washingtonian magazine survey concerning members of Congress.

The blog item, which we've taken down, was supposed to be based on the survey the magazine published in its current September 2010 issue. However, the link on the magazine's website for the story actually connects to a 2006 survey. Hair Balls mistakenly wrote about the 2006 survey as though it was the current one.

We apologize for this error. On the other hand, not much has changed.

Though it is not linked to on its website's table of contents for the September issue, Washingtonian does have the results of its 2010 survey online. And oddly enough, Hill staffers don't think much more of Sheila Jackson Lee than they apparently did in 2006.

According to the DC magazine, Jackson Lee is still the "Meanest" member of the House.

Here are the rest of the results as they relate to Texas' delegation:

Kay Bailey Hutchison, third meanest Senate member.

Jackson Lee took the top ranking for both Meanest and Show Horse in the House. She also scored a second place prize for Fashion Victim.

Ralph Hall holds the second place spot for Funniest congress member.

SJL is an embarrassment. 1. Hurricanes should have blacker names. 2. Believed that man had walked on Mars and planted an American flag. 3. Frequently makes similarly stupid comments. She should be replaced by another Democrat if possible, but she stomps all primary challengers.
I live in the Heights, and SJL is my representative through unbelievable jerry-mandering. How a woman that can barely form a complete sentence gets reelected time after time in beyond comprehension. This is a woman that actually wanted an investigation into the fact that hurricanes did not have a proportionate number of ethnic names. I wonder who the first one to pull the race card would be if Hurricane Shaniqua leveled a city? This woman is a joke and needs to go!
Andrea: You're right. And "good enough on my pet issues" does not equal "good enough". Sheila Jackson Lee is still a national joke. (I say that as a dem in her district.)
John Faulk believes that the government should be so small it should fit inside a woman's uterus. John Faulk does not believe in personal liberty - he would not allow women to make safe, legal, private decisions about whether and when to bear children. Sheila may not be perfect, but who is? She stands up for women's rights, children's rights, and the rights of people who traditionally have not had a voice in Congress.
We are all tired of this embarassment to Houston. Thankfully, I don't live in her district, but that hasn't stopped me from fighting for her defeat. John Faulk is a good strong conservative running against her and he opposes her on every major issue. John Faulk is opposed to our runaway spending, he opposes her healthcare vote to imprison people who don't have healthcare, he opposed the fake stimulus plan that on many provisions cost over 1 million dollars per job created (And we wonder why we have deficits), he opposes amnesty, and he supports a strong national defense. John Faulk needs our help with contributions and to call independents in his district and let them know they have someone who is worth voting for. You don't have to live in his district to contribute or to make the calls. He will get you the numbers to call. The demographics have changed in favor for John Faulk since this gerrymandered district was drawn up. Admittedly, it will be a tough battle, but no one gave Scott Brown or Marco Rubio a chance in their elections when they each trailed by 30 points. Now Scott Brown is in the Senate and the wimpy Charlie Crist decided to run independent after getting trounced by the same Marco Rubio that he held a seemingly sure win over. So it can be done. But not by just complaining about how stupid Sheila is. Visit faulkforcongress.org
I received notice of this post through Google - I am runing against Funny Guy, 30 year incumbent, Ralph Hall as an Independent. I hope this is a good year for America this coming election. There is still hope, but I am with the last post regarding both parties. They don't represent all that well. They do represent their lobbyists to the costituents - which is a sham. I believe we can get back to the basics of the Constitution, but to do that we need candidates who won't accept bribery from PACS and Lobby Groups (also known as campaign contributions) and who won't sellout. The cards are certainly stacked against the Independent. I had the state block my petition for two months because they miscounted the signatures and newspapers refusing to publish press releases. Various Tea Party group organizers send out press releases claiming they invited all candidates to attend their forum - I have not received one. Preachers preach that we are in a War against Islam - we are not; it is a war on terrorism. We can do things like abolish the IRS; pull back troops in places where the oil companies are getting rich off our patriots' blood (I was in the Navy during this war); have honest economic policies, etc. Good for you... Drod. Is that right, we need to just shut the fuck up on the issue if we are not in the district? Well, you need to wake the fuck up. Wake the fuck up and realize that as an elected official she is subject to scrutiny from EVERYONE, regardless of where her district sits. I am in independant, both parties can really kiss my ass. Look at Prudence Kunh's comment, he hit it dead on the head. As long as these "politicians" require votes and are Congresional members, they subject to a big "fuck you" from anyone, not just her district. Again, wake the fuck up.
Ms. Kuhn, SJL is known 'round these parts for things like demanding police escorts from the airport to her house - because she didn't want to have to wait in any traffic. "Queen Sheila" is a popular nickname, in fact. The way she has spoken, for example, to members of the police department who ARE THERE TO HELP HER, is appalling. You are correct that having a Congressperson who will fight for us is a good thing, and "Nicest Personality" or "Best Dressed" is not that upon which anyone should decide one's vote. Those are for laughs. I hardly think Ms. Jackson Lee is deeply offended, nor - obviously - is she trying to win those titles. I've been watching Shiela Jackson Lee for many years, and I do realize she does not fit well in the Congress. Mostly it is because I have never heard her speak on a subject when she did not appear to have read and researched the material of which she was speaking. She has always looked neat, and I never thought it mattered what our congress people looked like. Best dressed? What in the name of God does that have to do with a brain or with devotion to service to the United States of America? Tell me more about how Lee is an embarrassment to Democrats. And by the way, I'm not Black, and I'm not from Texas. Meanest? You want mothering? No wonder Congress is such a mess. You're measuring the behavior of our representatives as if you're selecting a high school track queen.
drod, I'm IN her district. And as a lifelong dem, I can safely say of Sheila that she is an embarrassment to her party, her district, and democracy as a whole. The shame I feel over my abomination of a congressperson is only compounded by the memories of Barbara Jordan and Mickey Leland. Or am I not allowed an opinion, either? (Lots of folks have been trying to get Marcus Davis @ The Breakfast Klub to run against her in the primary. Please help.)
Look the woman is a joke but until her voters tell her no more, she will be their representative and those who aren't in her district need to just STFU.
