Brandon Backe's Wedding-Brawl Saga Finally Ends

​Brandon Backe, the Galveston County pitcher who briefly stirred Astro hearts in their mid-decade glory days, has finally put an end to the wedding-braawl coda to his career.

In October 2008, Backe and some pals were involved in a fight with cops at a wedding at the island's San Luis Resort. The Houston Chronicle called the incident a "riot," but it sounded more like a jock wedding to us.

The Galveston County Daily News reports this morning that, two years after the fight, Backe and two others pleased no contest to the misdemeanor charges against them.
They were given deferred adjudication that basically took a "time-served" aspect, and the cases were closed.

They are as closed as Backe's bar, a brief business venture he took on in the wake of the fight, because it was sound legal strategy(?) As we noted in May, Brandon Backe's Bullpen in Dickinson shuttered not long after it opened.
