Dynamo In A Deep, Deep Slump

Neither was the case last night in Seattle as the Dynamo fell 2-0 to the Sounders FC.

The match was a physically-played game, as one would expect when these two Western Conference rivals clash. And if it wasn't for the antics of one, Fredy Montero, the Dynamo would have walked out of Qwest Field with a point. Instead, the Colombian striker scored the opening goal and assisted in second.

The Sounders first scored in the 64th minute. The play started when Sounders keeper Kasey Keller punted the ball down the length the field. The only two men on the scene were Montero and Dynamo defender Eddie Robinson. After Montero out-muscled Robinson for the ball, he hit a
low-shot past Dynamo keeper Tally Hall.

Montero then had his hand in his team's second goal. This time in the 88th minute, he sent a through ball to Alvaro Fernandez, who put the game away with his first career MLS goal.

The Dynamo didn't fare too well offensively. Their only real chance came in the 57th minute, when Joseph Ngwenya's goal was disallowed because he was ruled offsides. No controversy though, Ngwenya was a bit sneaky behind the defense.

The Dynamo did have a chance to give Geoff Cameron some more minutes. The young midfielder was thought to be lost for the season after rupturing his PCL earlier this season. He came back last Thursday night in the Dynamo's 1-0 loss to Morelia Monarcas in the Super Liga
semifinals.

There weren't many more positives from the match, as the Dynamo are now winless in nine straight MLS matches (0-5-4). They now take their 5-9-5 record -- second-worst in the Western Conference -- to Boston next Saturday to take on the New England Revolution.
