Nikki Araguz Gives Statement, Doesn't Answer Questions

But sad to say, Sherri, many transsexuals do live out the stereotype of disability fraudsters and con-artists. I'm male-to-female and have been living and working as a female for neary 25 years and - shockingly - at least 70% of those I knew lived on some form of public aid (claiming to be 'disabled'), not working, and having Medicaid pay for their hormones, doctor bills and therapy. A transsexual friend used to call them those "nothing-to-live-for trannies" because they do nothing, but sit at home waiting for their goverment check to come in. Sad, but true.

I myself am a transsexual disabled Marine Corps Veteran, I have a gentic female as my partner, and I work for the Veterans Affairs paying most of the bills in our home. The way Lalah has classified individuals like Niki makes us look like damn pirates or something, like all were out for is peoples money. I know hundreds of transsexuals, and not one has tried to exploit anyone for their own personal game. Just like people that are born normal and straight, there are a few bad apples in every group, unfortunately for the straight normal people, you have more criminals even when scaled to our numbers!! • Nikki was born male. Early on, he forged cheques, stole, used drugs and lied continually. No idea if his claims of being HIV pos are true or not...the fact remains, these 'transgendered' types are obsessed with obtaining the money needed for surgery, hormones, etc, and will do anything to get what they want - including marriage. And yes, it's quite possible to fool someone in this area; remember that these people have spent their lives lying and deceiving. He was only married two months; he might have distracted his poor husband with oral practices or claimed his 'birth defect' prevented normal sex. This guy just wants CASH to pay his surgery debts and to get high. What a sicko.

• It has not been proven that she was born male--only that at the time of her birth a birth certificate says she was. Perhaps she was a hermaphrodite? Born intersexed, it would be up to her parents to "choose" a gender...often parents choose the wrong one. We don't know the facts of this case, period. And it is despicable that her in-laws are dragging her through this. How embarrassing and, potentially, dangerous. People react VERY violently to transgenders in this state.

• Let's get this transgender label out of here. It is time to treat Nikki as the intersexed woman that she is and dismiss the complaint/suit against her and let her have peace and offer condolences in this time. As for the Littleton case, in 1999 although there were reports of XY phenotypic females, there were no reports of individuals who were fertile biological females and who had so-called male chromosomes. The first report of unassisted fertility in an XY female with wasn't reported until February of 2001 in the following report. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11780190 "Sequencing of the SRY motif in an XY female who gave birth to a normal baby showed no mutations." In fact, as stated above, even the so-called male gene on the Y chromoosme showed no alteration in this fertile female. Thus the so-called "sex chromosome" test needs to be dismissed and not even considered. Females-both fertile and infertile can be XX or XY.

• I, too, wondered if she had the surgery...then how could he not know if she didn't?? This case 'sort of' reminds me of Houston's Leslie Perez, who had been a deathrow inmate after a murder charge, was later released, then had a sex-change in Galveston and ran for public office in Harris County.....I have her biography called, "DANGEROUS GAMES"

• I have a few points: 1) Has Ms. Araguz actually COMPLETED the sex change process? I haven't heard her say she has - she says something about an operation, but hasn't stated that she has. 2) If she HAS NOT, then game over. She can't even claim common law status if she is technically (i.e. she still has a penis) a man. 3) Ms. Araguz is a proven con artist. She has many theft convictions. She can't be trusted by her word alone. 4) Whether Mr. Araguz knew or not - well, how could he NOT? But, that isn't the question - it is a legal status question - where they married - and they could have only been married if Ms. Araguz is a woman (back to question #1).

• Richard, You've been covering Houston for a long time now, and you may remember this case from the late 1990's in Houston. It goes like this: A person was born a male, then became a transgender. As a female, "she" committed some crime that sent "her" to state jail. The judge ordered "her" to an all female facility, but she/he argued, "No, I was born a male, therefore I want to go to an all male facility." It was quite a hilarious conversation and media topic at the time, but I don't remember how it was resolved. Do you remember?
