Sheri Lynn Davis, Teacher Who Became A Web Sensation For Beating A Kid: Charges Filed
|Not arrested yet, but charges filed and warrants issued|
Sheri Lynn Davis has been charged with injury to a child. Three others at Janie's House Charter School have been charged with failure to report child abuse: Gabriel Hahn Moseley, David Leonard Jones and Ollie Williams Hilliard.
"An investigation conducted by Deputy V. Coleman revealed that on April 29, 2010 defendant Sheri Lynn Davis, a teacher at Jaime's House Charter School, struck and kicked the complainant, a 13-year-old student," the HCSO announced. "A portion of that incident was captured on video by one of the complainant's classmates. The complainant's mother filed an initial report with the Harris County Sheriff's Office on May 20, 2010. That report led to the investigation."
(Update: The HCSO later corrected the date that they were contacted by the student's mother to May 10.)
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of those charged, an HCSO spokeswoman said.
Donna Hawkins, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's office, says the DA has accepted the charged and filed cases against the Jamie's House workers.
Davis' charge is a third-degree felony, punishable by two to 10 years in prison; the others are Class A misdemeanors, punishable by up to a year in jail.
