Don't ride with strangers
Her car got towed from a McDonald's parking lot, and she ended up dead.

Raquel Mundy, 24, dropped off her two children and her mother at the Greyhound bus station downtown about 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning. She made the mistake of parking at the nearby McDonald's, where tow-truck drivers aggressively patrol against such slips.

Her mom gave Mundy a debit card to retrieve her car, but she was unable to get a ride to the lot it had been taken to.

And so she got in a stranger's car.

"Witnesses stated she was last seen getting into a grey car with a Hispanic male," HPD says. "Ms. Mundy later texted her mother indicating that she thought she was in danger and was with a Hispanic male."

About 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, a homeless man discovered her body in the 300 block of St. Charles, east of downtown. An autopsy revealed she'd been strangled.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
