Greg Abbott Blames Obama For Bullets Hitting El Paso's City Hall

El Paso City Hall -- in the crosshairs, thanks to Obama
In the ever-escalating battle between Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Greg Abbott to see who can put out the most shameless press releases exploiting the hot-button issue of "protecting our borders," today's A-for-effort goes to Abbott.

Tuesday, bullets that were fired (apparently with very bad aim) in Juarez crossed the border and hit El Paso City Hall, causing no injuries.

This, to Abbott, triggered (ha ha!) a chance to once more blame the federal government (and remind voters who might be interested in Abbott's move to higher office) for all that tidal wave of crime on the border that is evident everywhere but in statistics.
"Dear Mr. President," Abbott wrote in calling for Obama "to make border security your top priority,"

Deadly violence from drug cartels and transnational gangs in Mexico is knocking on the United States' door with ever increasing frequency. Yesterday, gunfire from the cartels pierced that threshold and struck City Hall in El Paso. Fortunately no one was injured or killed. But that good fortune was not the result of effective border control - it was mere luck that the bullets struck buildings rather than bodies.

Luck and good fortune are not effective border enforcement policies. The shocking reality of cross border gunfire proves the cold reality: American lives are at risk.
It gets worse, for those of us here in Texas under the threat of the Brown Menace: "Our state is under constant assault from illegal activity threatening a porous border...Each day that passes increases the likelihood that an American life will be lost because of the federal government's failure to secure the border," Abbott writes.

So hunker down, Texans....from the blizzard of self-serving press releases issuing from Austin.
