The incident happened in the 3400 block of Yupon about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
"The female victim was stabbed multiple times by her ex-husband," HPD says. "The woman managed to retrieve her gun and fatally shot her ex-husband. She was then taken to the hospital."
The woman, 31, who was not identified, is in stable condition at Ben Taub Hospital. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
