Police say Adrian Mendoza-Alvarez, 22, was driving northbound in the 3600 block of Briarpark
about 12:50 a.m. May 5 when he veered off the road onto the median and into two trees.
Mendoza-Alvarez suffered only a minor hand injury; his passenger was taken to Ben Taub and pronounced dead from severe head trauma and possible internal injuries.
The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of his family.
