State Board Of Ed's Latest Wingnut Brainstorm: Use Barack Hussein Obama In Textbooks

• It is his name! His parents gave it to him. Should we have left out Jefferson from William Clinton simply because it's the first name of the Confederate President? How about Earl, from Janes Carter, Jr., becuase it's the middle name of an assassin? Obama used it in the campaign. If folks are cras enough to use it as an epithet, that is to their detriment. Like the man, dislike the man, that's the name he used to be sworn in. How is that up for debate????

• There is nothing obviously wrong with the name Hussein. Its merely a name but its what the guy says that makes him sound monumentally ignorant. Apply logic then you see the intent. John F. Kennedy was a "Jr" so was George W. Bush. Its a differentiator growing up in the same house. Some people refer to themselves as such. I have never heard Ronald Reagan's middle name because he never used it (Look at his acting credits). My question is how is it an honor using a middle name? His child like response of "whining" is a third indicator that in combination tells me you cant dismiss this guy.

• My son asked me today about the Ku Klux Klan. I said I'm not all that familiar with them because I grew up in a northern city. Growing up in Texas now, I think he'll have first-hand experience of them and similar ideas. This state is already so radically conservative, and now with these idiots injecting more doctrine into textbooks, I'm going to have to teach him how to actually learn, instead of just recite. Regulation bad. Taxes bad. International law threatening. etc

• Notice! To celebrate the landmark decisions by the Texas State Board of Education the state of Texas will be sponsoring book burnings in public libraries throughout the state. Those with Swastika arm bands will be admitted free of door fee. To assist with supplies please bring lighter fluid and copies of the US Constitution to ignite the fires. The Pledge of Allegiance will be said at the beginning of the book burning but please delete the phrase �With Liberty and Justice for All� when reciting the words. Due to limited parking at these events we ask that only white Christian people attend. For reservations please contact the Vatican or Southern Baptist Convention.

• Hussein ain't Irish or Italian. It's Islamic, given to him by his father in accordance with his father's values and beliefs. Obama used his full name on at least one occasion during his campaign to make a point about how his name and ethnicity were campaign disadvantages. He went to Islamic schools and appreciated the "beauty of the morning call to worship" during the period of his life when American kids were learning about the "shot heard round the world" and what happened at the Alamo. He bowed to the Arab king. That was historical and should also be in the history books. He is who he is. He is what he is. His name is what it is. Include it. chuckles

• Our grandchildren will never read a textbook entry about the middle name of the POTUS but I fear they will read a brief chapter in their textbooks about this silly debate started by David Bradley of Beaumont, Texas... As a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing. :: GP

• It's amazing that these ignorant fucks argue about something as simple as a middle name. Not that I'm a liberal, but he's the President of the USA. If you think his middle (birth) name is insulting then please do us a favor and Go Fuck Yourself.

• The issue is that people try to use his middle name to connote some association with Islam, Saddam, terrorists, etc. If they wanted to use his full name just for reference's sake, no problem. Cue silly comment from USA1 in 3....2....1....

• So it's an insult to use his full, legal, given name? What idiocy.

• Shouldn't someone ask him if he's offended by the use of his own name? He might be insulted more by the people who seem to be trying to protect him. I would certainly take offense if it was reported that I should be humiliated by the use of my own middle name. Just because his middle name is the same as the last name of a known American enemy doesn't mean he wants to, or should be expected to eradicate it from use. You people need to lighten up and stop looking for causes to get behind that don't mean a damn thing one way or the other.
